It was (another) great victory for freedom, democracy and international security – President Biden announced the elimination of the ruthless terrorist, infamous murderer, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda’s leader and one of the masterminds behind the 9/11 attack against the United States. Al-Zawahiri was Bin-Laden’s wingman on spreading terror across the world – Zawahiri was less sophisticated than Bin-Laden, yet even more barbarian in his disregard for human dignity. The United States has already eliminated the major “soldiers of terror” building a more secure world step by step. Or better put, terrorist down by (another) terrorist down – Bin Laden, Qasem Soleimani, Abu Bakr-Al Baghdadi and now Al-Zawahiri have tasted the sweet taste of Justice and the experienced the strength of free men and women – terrorists, no matter where they come from, their affiliation or they official status, they will be brought to thier knees. Justice will always delivered against them – letting them off the hook is not even an option. We need to build a better and more secure future; we need to honor our heroes of the past – because ignoring the past is undermining our future. This is something we should never forget as a golden rule of geopolitics. As President Biden stated, “to the families who lost fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, friends and co-workers on that searing September day, it is my hope that this decisive action will bring one more measure of closure. No day shall erase them from the memory of time”.
Having said that, last Tuesday, after President Biden’s announcement on Al-Zawahiri’s death, will be down in history as one of the most important days of free world’s history. A true reckoning day for all of us – even for those among us who still believe in the fantasy of a friendly, cooperative communist China, which could possibly be our ally. In fact, the importance of that day was not just about Al-Zawahiri’s elimination – the reactions to the leader of Al-Qaeda’s death were almost so relevant as the fact itself. Why? Let me explain.
President Biden delivered one of his most brilliant speeches of his term as President of the United States – the President praised his antecessors for fighting against terror, highlighting their achievements and unequivocally exposing the significance of Al-Zawahiri’s elimination. President Biden did not shy away from complimenting the incredible work done by the US Intelligence Community, praising all their professionals, from every agency involved in the sucessfull operation to defeat another ruthless global terrorism leader. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, President Biden sent a powerful message to all of those who committed or intended to commit any attack against the United States, against the American People – or against any of the United States’ allies. They will pay a high price. In President Biden’s own words: “and to those around the world who continue to seek to harm the United States, hear me now: We will always remain vigilant, and we will act. And we will always do what is necessary to ensure the safety and security of Americans at home and around the globe.
Today, we remember the lost. We commit ourselves to the safety of the living. And we pledge that we shall never waver from defending our nation and its people”.
While President Biden was delivering this words of hope, determination and peace through strength, in Beijing, the Chinese Communist Party’s leaders were sorrowing terrorist Al-Zawahiri’s death. As a matter of fact, Hua Chunying, instead of praising the elimination of a terrorist who had spread fear, chaos, destruction, bloodshed all around the globe, prefered to denounce what they call “CIA’s double standard”: apparently, the Chinese Communist Party considers that Al Zawahiri was not a terrorist after all; he was just a political activist. The United States made him a terrorist for political reasons – especifically, in order to legitimize an intervention in foreign soil (Afghanistan) to undetake an “assassination operation”. This ludicrious comments from a top chinese official – Chunying is a powerful person inside China’s Department of State – shows beyond any reasonable doubt that China is a terrorism-sponsor State. Totalitarian communist China is not part of the solution for world’s problems – China is (a great) part of the world’s problems. Communist China is our most prominent existential threat. By implicitly defending Al-Zawahiri, the Chinese Communist Party aimed to (i) discredit Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan; (ii) to protect its interests in Afghanistan, standing side by side with the Talibans, taking t advantage of the country’s natural resources and strategic geopolitical localization; (iii) to not endanger the strategic alliance China celebrated with Iran and Russia to undermine the United States’ security and interests in the region; (iv) to expand China’s influence in Pakistan at the expenses of the United States, using this terrorist groups, like Al-Qaeda, to promote chaos in the region to force the United States to replicate its withdrawal from Afghanistan and to avoid the United States intelligence and counter-terrorism ops in that region.
One thing is for sure: China is embracing terrorism. China is training terrorists to spread fear and death against those who oppose to their interests. We see that in Pakistan, in Afghanistan or in Kashmir. Or in Isfahan, Iran. China and Iran’s strategic alliance started to be forged in Portugal in 2017 – curiously, after socialist-communist Prime-Minister António Costa had taken over portuguese political power – and now is hurting the whole world. We need more brave acts like Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan to show to Xi Jinping that we will never cave in to his blackmail and permanent menacing tone; freedom and democracy will triumph at last.
